Emma Young - Double it
Updated: May 28
It never ceases to amaze me how many talented artists are out there just waiting to be discovered, but one just can not help but be a little bit more excited to find that true diamond in the rough, and this luminous singer song writer from Westport, Massachusetts, certainly fits that description. Emma Young does a very impressive job of creating an almost overwhelming atmosphere with her production. It is better to describe yourself as being immersed in an aurally dazzling universe, than to simply say that you are listening to her music. It definitely is a true listening experience!
The song begins with sweeping filters, elegantly paired with some creative panning, immediately creating a sense of movement in the composition, and then the layers begin to build, as the energy of the song intensifies and intensifies, seemingly, to continuously soar ever higher. I especially love the percussive elements that come in around the chorus (though I don't feel that "chorus" is an accurate description), the bass drum, hand drums, and toms, all coming together in an sort of graceful animosity. Very well done!
Emma's vocals are on point and beautifully suite the music, but I do not feel that they are the focal point of this track, but more an accompaniment, as all aspects of the composition seem equally significant to the overall experience, and it is an exquisite experience indeed. She does an absolutely exemplary job of layering her vocals and the harmonies are without flaw. The music almost seems to have a soul of its own, like it is a living breathing entity, that I could almost physically interact with if I were to just close my eyes and reach out.
Emma is an exceptional producer in any light, and I am curious to see where her musical journey takes her. Do yourself a favor and give this song a listen, you will not regret it.
